Hand Sanitizer Sales Men

by admin on Jan.16, 2010, under Main

My wife was at home yesterday (1/14/2010) and noticed a burgundy van pull up and park by our mailbox. 6 people jumped out of the van and paired off in twos. She had the garage door open because she was in there cleaning. They started walking up to our house and started going into the garage until she poked her head out and said “can I help you?”

The two men walked over and one was holding a small bottle of hand sanitizer. He proceeded to talk about the hand sanitizer like they were trying to sell it. He wanted her to try it out. She looked at them kind of weirdly because hello someone is standing on your porch trying to put hand sanitizer on you. He made a comment about not to worry it wasn’t poison or anything. She still refused and like any good salesman he continued to try and push the hand sanitizer. Saying she could talk to his boss the guy still sitting in the drivers side of the van. She again refused and they left.

This just seems really odd to me. Door to door hand sanitizer salesmen?!?

Indie 101.5 FM RIP

by admin on Aug.03, 2009, under Main

Indie 101.5 FM has ceased to exist after it’s short run on Denver’s air waves. It was by far the best radio station I’ve ever heard in my 27 years of life on this planet. I am deeply saddened by it’s death and cringe every time I have to get into the car and listen to the abhorrent radio stations we have in Denver. How is it a radio station can feel like they wrap you in a warm blanket of love? Now I’m cold, scared and not sure where to turn to next.

But all is not lost. Apparently the guys (and girls) at Indie are starting a web site called www.indie303.com where they will be on the air uncensored. We’ll also be able to stream them live on www.live365.com. I guess it’s time to upgrade my technology so I don’t have to listen to the inane chattering and playlists <cough>93.3</cough> that make me want to swerve off the road just to end it all. Ok now I loved channel 93.3 when I was in high school. Heck I even loved it right up until a few years ago. I participated in music surveys (thinking they actually mattered), became an area93 member the whole 9 yards. That was until I stumbled across Indie and realized what I had been missing. Never before have I bought so much music in such a small amount of time. I spent around $75 in the last 6 months on I-Tunes (that’s a lot for me) after hearing something awesome on Indie. Talk about boosting the economy.

Indie is for REAL humans and while momentarily depressed I look forward to the future and what www.indie303.com has in store. I wish them the best of luck!

What ever happened to the fence?

by admin on Apr.07, 2009, under Main

I remember last year (2008) there were fliers going around about voting on a tax to replace fences in Meadowood with a nice brick fence along the main roads. I thought we were voting on it in November, but November came, I voted, and there was nothing on the ballot about this. I would have voted yes because hey a new fence for us would be awesome. I have held back on replacing ours since I don’t want to shell out the $$ when the city is going to replace it anyway. It might not be the city I have no idea, but why can’t we have nice things?

It would definetly help for that hideous house a few streets down that has this nasty chain link fence. You can see everything in the yard including, but not limited to 147 empty coke cans in the back yard. At least we wouldn’t be subjected to that type of disgusting standard of living.

I understand no one wants to pay higher taxes for anything so I’m not suprised that this has disappeared. But seriously when the city of Aurora gives me a notice that my car has two wheels on the grass, but will allow others to show off their completely trashed out back yard to the entire neighborhood something is wrong.

I love that we don’t have an HOA, but us good people get in trouble for seemingly small things and they allow other eye-sores to go on with out consequence, it’s maddening.

Just my $0.02.
